E.T. Gresham Company in Norfolk, VA is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to service and repair our fleet of cranes, heavy trucks, trailers, and related machinery on-site.

You will diagnose complex mechanical issues, perform preventive maintenance, source parts, maintain records, and coordinate with operators to minimize downtime while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in diesel, hydraulic systems, heavy equipment, or commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Completion of a recognized diesel technology or heavy equipment maintenance training program, or equivalent documented technical training.
• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize work and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
• Manufacturer-specific training or repair experience with Grove, Link-Belt, National, or other mobile hydraulic cranes preferred.
• Provide standard hand tools; company will provide specialty crane diagnostic equipment and manufacturer-specific tools.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing; CDL preferred.
• Ability to obtain TWIC and DBID cards to access ports and military installations.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting up to 60 pounds, with occasional field repairs at jobsites.

Responsabilités

• Identify, source, and purchase replacement parts and maintain purchasing records.
• Communicate conditions, repairs needed, and downtime to management and operators.
• Maintain a clean, safe shop and comply with regulations.
• Attend company meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Norfolk, VA.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Independently inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, service, and repair company-owned vehicles and equipment, including mobile hydraulic cranes, heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and other machinery.
• Diagnose and perform advanced mechanical repairs involving brakes, cooling, diesel engines, electrical systems, electronic controls, exhaust systems, fuel, hydraulic systems, steering, suspension, and transmissions.
• Read, interpret and utilize diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics, technical manuals, and manufacturer specifications to accurately identify and resolve mechanical issues.
• Independently prioritize and complete repairs safely and efficiently, minimizing equipment downtime and reducing the need for outsourced services.
• Develop and maintain a proactive preventive maintenance program, including scheduled inspections, oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and other routine maintenance.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date equipment maintenance records, including service histories, repairs, inspections and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Identify, source, and purchase replacement parts and supplies, evaluating vendors for pricing, quality, and availability; maintain organized purchasing records.
• Communicate equipment conditions, repairs needed, and anticipated downtime to management and coordinate with equipment operators regarding maintenance concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop, including proper care and storage of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Adhere to all company policies, manufacturer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Attend company meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
