Job summary

Amwaste is seeking a Diesel Mechanic in Alabama to maintain, diagnose, and repair engines and equipment on our waste collection trucks. You will work closely with truck drivers to keep operations running smoothly and safely.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, welding and fabricating parts as needed, and keeping the shop tidy. Full-time position with opportunities for career advancement and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance principles.
• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment diagnostics and repair principles.
• Skills in the use of tools and equipment used in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Skill in welding.
• Skill in troubleshooting and identifying problems and in devising related solutions.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots vehicle and equipment operations problems, diagnoses and subsequently makes repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to standard schedules.
• Adjusts, repairs or replaces parts and equipment.
• Attends safety meetings and classes.
• Maintains tools and equipment.
• Maintains a safe and tidy shop.
• Welds and fabricates parts as needed.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
