TransWest is looking for experienced Fleet Techs to join our growing team in Seattle. Now offering a $7,500 sign-on bonus!
Through accurate tracking and scheduling, the A level technician is responsible for proactive fleet maintenance, performing complex work/issues, diagnostics, major repairs as needed for fleet vehicles. The A tech works with other techs, the operations team to maintain safe and reliable vehicles for staff and clients while reacting to service needs, conducting vehicle repair in the field, orchestrating vehicle change outs, while ensuring minimal service interruptions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Regularly inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering, and exhausts condition and operational safety; ensure maintenance of the highest level, including physical appearance.
- Repairing vehicle transmission, brakes, engines, and other associated parts.
- Address immediate fleet concerns and maintain fleet maintenance records: review driver defect reports daily, review PMs, and troubleshoot/resolve issues to reduce road calls and ensure safety.
- Track daily vehicle reports, labor hours, maintenance, and repair records to ensure all maintenance files are accurate and current.
- Conducting field visits in case of emergency or breakdown, making arrangements to repair or tow inoperable vehicles.
- Support the IT team in managing on-board shuttle technology such as Wi-Fi devices, telematics systems, and vehicle tablets to ensure functionality.
- Prepare work plans after fully scoping out issues.
- Assign work orders to B and C level technicians as needed.
- Test drive repaired vehicles to gauge performance.
- Run diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpret results for solutions.
- Maintain records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.
- Other duties as assigned.
KEY POSITION COMPETENCIES:
- Advanced knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices in a commercial setting, servicing various vehicles through on-the-job experience.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance shop management and the mechanical workings of gasoline and diesel chassis.
- Basic understanding of EV technologies and willingness to learn more.
- In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and mechanisms.
- Advanced knowledge of vehicle electronics and aftermarket equipment used in passenger transportation.
- Troubleshooting skills and diagnostic ability.
- Knowledge of maintenance tracking systems and applicable software (fleet telematics).
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and electronics, with ability to learn other software.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Customer service skills and ability to work effectively at all organizational levels.
- Ability to handle emergent issues while maintaining workflow.
- Ability to work in stressful environments and lead large teams.
- Good interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Sense of humor, bias for action, and flexibility.
Requirements:
- HD ASE certification.
- Experience with HD electrical systems, air brakes, and suspensions.
- Proficiency with diesel diagnostic software (Insight, Quickserve, AllData, WABCO, Bendix).
- HVAC and Power Train certifications.
- Minimum five years of maintenance experience, including transit buses and motor coaches.
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment, comfortable with power tools.
- Current Washington driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
- Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) with P Endorsement is a plus; CDL training available.
- Flexibility to work outside regular hours and in outdoor environments.
- We do not require COVID vaccination.
