Job summary

Interstate Power Systems in Butler, WI is hiring a Diesel Mechanic (1st Shift) to diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.

You will use OEM diagnostic tools, perform preventive maintenance, and communicate repairs to customers and internal teams while following OSHA and DOT safety standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience working on diesel trucks or heavy equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude including diesel engines and electrical systems.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy-duty diesel trucks and/or equipment.
• Repair/replace major components including engines, transmissions, turbos, and differentials.
• Use diagnostic software (Cummins Insite, Detroit Diagnostic Link, OEM tools)
• Complete service documentation for repairs, parts, and compliance
• Communicate repairs and recommendations to customers and internal teams
• Follow all safety standards (OSHA, DOT, company protocols)
• Maintain tools and equipment for daily operations

What You'll Do

• Experience: 2+ years working on diesel trucks or heavy equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude with diesel engines, electrical systems, and diagnostics

• Experience with OEM diagnostic tools preferred
• Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred)
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in shop conditions

Bonus Points:

• Diesel tech certification or ASE (T2-T8)
• Experience with Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, or Mack
