Job summary

Ozinga Indiana Ready Mix Concrete Inc. in Portage, IN is seeking a Diesel Mechanic. The role requires diagnosing, testing, and repairing diesel engines and related vehicle systems with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Expect to perform PMs, maintain parts, keep records, and ensure shop cleanliness. Qualified candidates will have 3+ years in diesel/mechanical work, plus certifications in diesel tech, A/C, and DOT air brakes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a mechanic with emphasis in diesel engines and/or commercial motor vehicles is preferred
• Certified Diesel Tech preferred
• A/C Certified preferred
• DOT Air Brakes Certified preferred
• Knowledge of diagnostic testing on vehicles and engines
• Electrical (wiring) knowledge preferred
• Aptitude for mathematics and science
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components

Responsibilities

• Analyze/troubleshoot and repair vehicles & commercial motor vehicles
• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles & commercial motor vehicles
• Maintain parts & inventory
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Test drive vehicles to gauge performance
• Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist (Annual DOT Inspection) on Commercial Motor Vehicles
• Ensure cleanliness of the shop
• Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function
• May be asked to perform additional duties to meet business needs
