Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America is seeking a skilled diesel Class 8 vehicle mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and trailers, ensuring compliance with DOT standards. The role requires diagnosing issues, performing preventive maintenance, and welding as needed on equipment.

Work hours are 8 am to 5 pm with on-call duties. A high school diploma and at least two years of diesel mechanic experience are preferred. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage and benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience as a diesel Class 8 vehicle mechanic.
• Ability to read and understand driver inspection reports.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Responds to maintenance requests from drivers, safety coordinator, DOT coordinator, lead mechanic, transportation supervisor, and fleet manager.
• Maintains and repairs trucks and trailers to be in proper operating condition according to DOT specifications.
• Conducts periodic inspections, diagnoses problems and eliminates unsafe operating conditions.
• Performs annual vehicle inspection and admissions tests in compliance with state regulations.
• Operates arc and MIG weld equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
• This is a full-time position

Schedule

General Purpose

Performthe majority oftruck and/or trailer maintenance and repairs, ensuring that equipment is available and inoptimaloperatingcondition, while working under minimal supervision. Work with theassistanceof other mechanics or supervisors when performing highly technical or intricate diagnostic repairs.
