Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. in Vermont seeks a full-time Diesel Class 8 Vehicle Mechanic to maintain trucks and trailers per DOT standards and support daily operations.

You will respond to maintenance requests, diagnose issues, and perform inspections with a skilled team. Requires a high school diploma and at least two years of diesel mechanic experience, plus ability to lift 75 lbs and use hand tools.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least two years' experience as a diesel Class 8 vehicle mechanic.
• Must read and understand driver inspection reports.
• Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Must have knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations.
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs and pass a physical demands analysis.

Responsibilities

• Responds to maintenance requests from drivers, safety coordinator, DOT coordinator, lead mechanic, transportation supervisor, and fleet manager.
• Maintains and repairs trucks and trailers to be in proper operating condition according to DOT specifications.
• Conducts periodic inspections, diagnoses problems, and eliminating unsafe operating conditions.
• Performs annual vehicle inspection and admissions tests in compliance with state regulations.
• Operates arc and MIG welding equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
• This is a full-time position

Schedule

• 8 am to 5 pm and on call hours

General Purpose

Performthe majority oftruck and/or trailer maintenance and repairs, ensuring that equipment is available and inoptimaloperatingcondition, while working under minimal supervision. Work with theassistanceof other mechanics or supervisors when performing highly technical or intricate diagnostic repairs.
