Job description

Position Overview

This position is designed for students enrolled in a technical college degree program looking to gain hands-on experience in the diesel mechanic field. This position will work closely with experienced technicians and mechanics assisting in various repair and maintenance tasks while gaining valuable insights into the industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for own personal safety at all times; as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job.
  2. Hands-on experience with different types of heavy equipment.
  3. Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues under the guidance of experienced technicians.
  4. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations and fluid checks.
  5. Opportunities to work on troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  6. Training in the use of work orders, inventory systems, and vehicle condition reporting.
  7. Exposure to state and federal regulations (DOT, OSHA, MSHA).
  8. A fast-paced environment where you’ll work closely with experienced mechanics.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following safety protocols and company procedures.
  10. Support team members with various projects and tasks as needed.
  11. Regular and timely attendance.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  1. Must submit to a drug screen and criminal background check.
  2. Current driver's license and reliable source of transportation.
  3. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  4. Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  5. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as assigned.
  6. Mobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locations.
Education/Experience
  1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Enrolled in a Technical College degree program.
  3. Basic computer skills are needed.
