Ryder System, Inc. is hiring a Diesel Technician Trainee in Phoenix, AZ. This entry-level role offers on-the-job paid training, a second shift, and a path to becoming a Diesel Mechanic with state-of-the-art diagnostics and tools.

Position includes weekly pay, uniforms, PPE, and tool/boot allowance. Ideal for candidates with 0–1 year mechanical exposure, strong English skills, and reliability. CDL preferred; safety rules govern this role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred (education).
• Zero to one year mechanical experience preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot, work independently and as part of a team.
• Track record of performance, good attendance and accountability.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Move heavy duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop or to rental shop.
• Perform multi-point inspection and check tires, fluids, lights, and tires.
• Maintain fuel island area and assist with minor maintenance tasks.
• Attend and complete Technician Training Development Program requirements.
• Perform service island training and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Support HD electrical, brakes and other systems as trained.
