Job summary

Beverly Companies in Markham, IL is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy-duty trucks, snow equipment, and related fleet assets. The role reports to the Equipment Manager and supports year-round operations for landscaping and snow removal in Chicagoland.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of diesel experience, owns basic tools, and can read manuals and wiring diagrams. A valid driver's license and strong diagnostic skills are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, heavy duty trucks, trailers, hydraulics, electrical systems, and brake systems.
• Experience working on snow removal trucks, plows, salt spreaders, and landscape/construction equipment preferred.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and complete repairs efficiently.
• Must have own basic tools.
• Ability to read repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and service information.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy duty trucks, diesel vehicles, trailers, and fleet equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, brake repairs, suspension work, tire service, fluid checks, and general inspections.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, air brake systems, drivetrain components, and related vehicle systems.
• Maintain and repair snow removal equipment including plows, salt spreaders, salters, and related attachments.
• Prepare trucks and equipment for seasonal landscaping and snow removal operations.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and complete repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Perform DOT-related inspections and ensure vehicles are operating safely and within compliance.
• Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance, parts used, and service history.
• Communicate needed repairs, safety concerns, and equipment status to management.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Assist with emergency repairs during snow events or peak operating seasons as needed.
• Work with vendors or outside repair shops when necessary for parts, specialty repairs, or warranty work.
