Qualifications

Job description

Join to apply for the Diesel Mechanic role at GFL Environmental Inc.

Utilize expertise in diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to maintain GFL’s fleet in safe and operational condition.

Essential Functions:

• Diagnose and repair Diesel and CNG trucks, including engines, electrical, propane, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
• Lead inspections of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, steering, wheel bearings, and other critical parts.
• Mentor and guide Level B and C mechanics.
• Prioritize repairs for efficiency and timely completion of work orders.
• Review mechanical write-ups, coordinate repairs, and oversee schedules.
• Perform DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles.
• Complete reports, work orders, order parts, and perform administrative duties.
• Ensure safety compliance and maintain a safe work environment.
• Interpret electrical and diagnostics schematics.
• Participate in training to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and related regulations.
• Brake safety certificate and 609 A/C system certification required.
• ASE certifications preferred.
• Ability to interpret schematics and manuals.
• Experience with diagnostic software.
• Computer literacy and willingness to learn software systems.
• Class A or B CDL preferred or willingness to obtain within six months.
• Minimum of 5 years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience.

Physical and Mental Demands:

• Ability to stand, sit, walk, and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds.
• Must have good visual and auditory acuity.
• Ability to operate trucks and equipment as needed.
• Continuous mental focus required.
