Job summary

Dave Syverson Truck Centers in Rochester, MN seeks a Mechanic/Heavy Truck Technician to diagnose, repair and service heavy trucks. This in-person role offers a 2nd shift from 10 am to 6 pm, with premium pay for well-qualified technicians and shift pay options.

You will work with our team to maintain vehicles to factory standards, communicate with parts, perform road tests when needed, and keep the shop tidy.

Qualifications

• Must have MVR and ability to obtain CDL.
• Strong customer service skills and communication.
• Varied shifts with shift pay options.
• Assessment testing and background checks as part of recruitment.
• Able to lift up to 70 pounds and work with computers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair heavy trucks per repair order with accuracy.
• Complete service calls timely while upholding customer service.
• Coordinate with parts dept to obtain needed parts.
• Save and tag warranty parts.
• Advise management if additional work is needed or not required.
• Document all work performed and road test vehicles when required.
• Keep customer vehicles clean and shop area organized.
• Follow regulations on disposal of hazardous waste.
• Perform tasks as needed with evolving technology.

As a Diesel Technician your responsibilities will include:

• Diagnose and perform repair work as outlined in repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with company and factory standards.
• Complete service calls in a timely manner as needed assuring exceptional customer service.
• Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Save and tag necessary warranty parts.
• Advise shop management immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the time period promised.
• Document all work performance.
• Road test vehicles when required to quality check work performed.
• Ensure that customer vehicles are kept clean.
• Keep shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership owned tools at all times.
• Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
• Perform functions and duties of the job that may require additional or different tasks to be performed when circumstances change (i.e., emergencies, changes in personnel, workload, rush jobs or technology developments).
• Must have strong computer / programming skills for diagnostics tools

Requirements (candidates must have):

• Must have an acceptable MVR with the ability to obtain a CDL.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Various shifts are available with shift pay options.
