Job summary

Job description

Join to apply for the Diesel Mechanic role at Werner Enterprises.

The main purpose of this position is to diagnose and repair all systems on a diesel tractor, including but not limited to: engine, transmission, axles, suspension, air conditioning, electrical systems, air brakes, and 5th wheel systems. Candidates must have advanced hand tools, a rollaway toolbox, impact sockets, and a digital volt/ohm/amp meter.

The essential duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical problems on diesel tractors, documenting repairs on work orders.
  2. Operating tractors to locate and move equipment for repairs.
  3. Providing customer service by advising drivers on technical issues.
  4. Maintaining a clean work area and storing tools properly.
  5. Procurement of parts for repairs.
  6. Performing additional duties as assigned.
  7. Training less experienced mechanics and providing technical guidance.
