Job summary

Air Products seeks a Diesel Mechanic for its Odessa, TX location. We are seeking a Diesel Mechanic for our Odessa, TX location who is energetic, highly motivated, well organized, a self-starter with strong commitment to safety. This mechanic should be a strong teammate with ability to work well with fellow mechanics, drivers, and operations personnel.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs as necessary on tractors and tanker trailers.
• Document/record repair work performed electronically on computer-based vehicle maintenance system.
• Perform road repairs when necessary.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle electrical, air brake components/systems.
• Perform electrical/electronic diagnosis repairs on tractors and trailers.
• Gas and electrical welding experience preferred.
• Help plant operations as needed.
• Participation in company safety, training, environmental and improvement programs.

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform cryogenic maintenance to include repair/replacing valves, pumps, etc.
• Calibrate pump discharge meters.
• Load trailers
• Wash fleet equipment
• Housekeeping
• Handle inventory for spare tires and fleet equipment parts
• Handle fleet fuels and lubricants.
• Perform delivery operation environmental and safety tasks.
• Assist plant operations maintenance.
• Opportunity to learn and maintain state of the art tractors and trailers.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/equivalent
• Class A CDL preferred (not required)
• Strong mechanical background, with above average computer experience/skills
• Energetic, highly motivated and well organized, self-starter with strong commitment to safety
• Strong team player with ability to work well with fellow mechanics/drivers/operations personnel
• Solid work history
• Ability to drive a tractor
• Welding knowledge and experience
• Electrical troubleshooting skills on 12-volt DC circuits
• Diesel engine troubleshooting and minor repair experience
• This is a safety sensitive position
