Job summary

Icon Fitness in Norfolk, VA is seeking a skilled Mechanic to assemble, maintain and repair machinery and vehicles used on our expansion project.

You will diagnose and repair diesel engines and hydraulic systems, perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment, weld or fabricate as needed, and manage parts and work orders while complying with safety standards.

This full-time position offers overtime opportunities and the chance to work outdoors on-site.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience with diesel engine repair.
• DOT standards and regulations knowledge.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to work overtime and flexible hours (day/night/weekends).
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Safety procedures knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, maintain and repair machinery and vehicles on the project site.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulics, brakes, transmission, steering and other systems.

USD 33.08 - 35.00 Hourly | HRBT Expansion Project in Norfolk, VA, United States Full Time

We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to assemble, maintain and repair machinery and vehicles. You will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines and mechanical systems.

Diagnose and repair issues in diesel engines

Diagnose and repair issues with hydraulics, brakes, transmission, steering and other systems

Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment (i.e., dozers, excavators, heavy haul trucks, etc.)

Perform welding or fabrication tasks on equipment as necessary

Prepare work orders and order parts

Fuel equipment and maintain daily log

Other Duties as Assigned or Requested

Perform additional duties as needed

Qualifications

Required

Minimum of 3 years of experience with diesel engine repair

Thorough knowledge and working experience of DOT standards and regulations

Must be 18 years in age or older

A valid Driver’s License

Ability to work overtime and flexible hours (day/night/weekends)

Ability to work outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions

Knowledge and working experience of DOT standards and regulations

Ability to communicate with others to convey information effectively

Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials

Knowledgeable of safety procedures and practices

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred

High School Diploma preferred

Diesel technician or mechanic degree a plus
