Job summary

A leading construction firm in Miami Gardens is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to perform diagnostic testing, repairs, and maintenance on vehicles and commercial motor vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess certifications such as Diesel Tech and A/C, and have a strong background in diesel engine components. This position offers a pay rate ranging from $24.00 to $31.00 per hour, alongside a comprehensive benefits package including medical insurance and retirement plan options.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of diagnostic testing on vehicles and engines.
• Electrical (wiring) knowledge preferred.
• Aptitude for mathematics and science.
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
• 3+ years of experience as a mechanic with emphasis in diesel engines and/or commercial motor vehicles is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, troubleshoot and repair vehicles & commercial motor vehicles.
• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles & commercial motor vehicles.
• Test drive vehicles to gauge performance.
• Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist on Commercial Motor Vehicles.

Job description

Summary The Diesel Mechanic needs to be highly organized and communicate effectively. The primary duties include performing diagnostic testing to find faults, analyze results, and repair or replace engine, steering, transmission, braking, lighting systems and other related components.

Pay: $24.00 - $31.00 Hourly

Mechanic Duties

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze, troubleshoot and repair vehicles & commercial motor vehicles
• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles & commercial motor vehicles
• Maintain parts & inventory
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Test drive vehicles to gauge performance
• Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist (Annual DOT Inspection) on Commercial Motor Vehicles
• Ensure cleanliness of the shop

Global Responsibilities

• Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position
• This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needs

Working Conditions

• Operation within a fast-paced environment
• Exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions
• Noise level is usually moderate, but can be high and requires personal hearing protection on occasion at job sites, plants and laboratories
• Must be able to work through stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and composure
• Local travel required

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Work through stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and composure
• Must be able to operate buttons, levers, and other controls located on various equipment
• Must be able to maneuver in and around plants, yards and jobsites as necessary
• Lift/Carry up to 50 pounds frequently
• Lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
