Job summary

Montgomery-Hassell-Inc. in North Carolina is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair commercial trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment, ensuring customers stay on the road safely and with minimal downtime.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of heavy-duty truck and trailer repair experience
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • FMCSA DOT and brake inspector certification or ability to meet certification requirements
  • Working knowledge of diesel engines, brakes, electrical, drivetrain, steering, and suspension systems
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
  • Basic computer skills for electronic work orders and service documentation
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize repairs
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, brakes, electrical systems, drivetrains, steering, suspension, HVAC, air, and hydraulic systems
  • Conduct DOT inspections and identify safety or compliance issues
  • Repair and replace tires, wheels, hubs, bearings, brakes, and related components
  • Identify developing equipment issues and recommend repairs before they result in breakdowns or extended downtime
  • Complete work orders, inspection reports, and service documentation accurately and on time
  • Communicate repair findings, recommendations, and equipment status professionally with customers and management
  • Follow company, OSHA, DOT, and customer-site safety requirements
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition

What You'll Do

As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing commercial trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment to help keep customers safely on the road and minimize equipment downtime.
