Job summary

MPW Industrial Services is seeking a dependable Diesel Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment in a fast-paced industrial setting. You will diagnose complex issues, perform advanced repairs, and ensure safety and reliability across fleet operations.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of diesel experience, strong diagnostic skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of diesel mechanic or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform 8–12 hour shifts.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and on-call as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections on diesel trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, driveline, brake, suspension, and hydraulic system issues.
  • Replace tires, brakes, and worn components.
  • Complete diesel engine overhauls as needed.
  • Maintain maintenance records and repair documentation.
  • Support field maintenance and travel to job sites as required.
  • Follow safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Utilize diagnostic and shop tools safely and effectively.

We’re looking for a dependable Diesel Mechanic to support the inspection, maintenance, and repair of diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment in a fast-paced industrial environment. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, the ability to perform advanced repairs with minimal supervision, and a commitment to keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections on diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
  • Complete post‑trip inspections to identify repair needs and ensure equipment safety and compliance.
  • Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, driveline, brake, suspension, and hydraulic system issues.
  • Replace tires, clutches, brakes, and other worn or damaged mechanical components.
  • Perform complete diesel engine overhauls and rebuilds as needed.
  • Complete differential, transmission, and driveline overhauls and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and complete major electrical system repairs on vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain specialty equipment and bolt‑on components.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair documentation, and inspection reports.
  • Assist with maintaining shop cleanliness, organization, and inventory of tools and parts.
  • Support field maintenance operations and travel temporarily to job sites when needed to repair equipment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Perform additional duties and maintenance responsibilities as assigned.
What You’ll Need
  • High school diploma or technical school training preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of diesel mechanic or heavy equipment maintenance experience, including technical training or apprenticeship experience.
  • Experience working in a fleet, equipment, industrial, or maintenance shop environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and driveline components.
  • Ability to safely operate diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, lifting devices, and shop equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work in awkward positions for extended periods during 8–12 hour shifts.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, around industrial noise, grease, dust, vibrations, and moving mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel‑toe boots, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when required.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, emergency call‑outs, and temporary field assignments as business needs require.
