Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Diesel Technology or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of mechanic experience with heavy equipment may supplement a degree.
  • Experience with CAT, CASE, Kenworth, and/or Mack equipment preferred.
  • CDL Class A or B license and a clean driving record preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately.
  • Maintain communication with Vice President on scheduling.
  • Perform DOT inspections and ensure compliance.

Job description

Position Description

Mechanics complete a wide variety of repairs on heavy equipment such as bulldozers, tractors, rollers, and other production vehicles.

Mechanics work from 6:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday. Weekend overtime required as necessary.

Job Duties
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of heavy construction equipment (e.g., bulldozers, scrapers, excavators, and loaders) and tractor-trailers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and services on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmissions, and brakes.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures using diagnostic tools and technical manuals. Escalate issues to manufacturer assistance hotline as necessary.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately and in a timely manner. Report hours worked on each piece of equipment accurately.
  • Maintain communication with Vice President to coordinate scheduling and repair priorities.
  • Perform DOT inspections and ensure all vehicles and equipment meet compliance and safety standards.
  • Operate and test repaired equipment to verify functionality and ensure quality of repairs.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in Diesel Technology or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of mechanic experience with heavy equipment may supplement a degree.
  • Experience with CAT, CASE, Kenworth, and/or Mack equipment preferred.
  • CDL Class A or B license and a clean driving record preferred.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
  • Must have good communication skills and professional demeanor.
  • Must have effective time management skills and be able to work independently.
  • Must own a set of basic mechanic tools.

Mechanics start at up to $38.32 perhour, based on experience. McAninch pays 100% of all benefits, including health insurance premiums and pension dues, as provided by Local 234 Operators Union. Overtime is paid after 40 hours per week and employees are paid weekly on every Friday.
