Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to identify worn and damaged parts.
• Complete preventive maintenance and install component upgrades.
• Remove, repair, adjust, overhaul, and replace major assemblies.
• Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives.
• Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Perform annual DOT Inspections.

Job duties

• Determinevehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests to identifyworn and damaged parts.
• Keepequipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance, installingcomponent and part upgrades,controllingcorrosion, andcompletingwinterization procedures
• Correctvehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics, and making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
• Verifyvehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
• Complywith federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
• Maintainvehicle records by annotating services and repairs
• Containcosts by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
• Keepsupplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt
• Enhancemaintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
