Job summary

StormWater Pros, LLC seeks an experienced diesel mechanic to service fleet vehicles and heavy equipment, including hydrovac trucks, in Chandler, AZ. You will diagnose engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical issues, perform routine maintenance, and replace worn parts to keep our fleet safe and compliant.

Applicants should have 5+ years in automotive/diesel repair, a valid license, and the ability to work evenings and Saturdays. CDL is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect fleet vehicles and heavy equipment for issues, safety concerns, or wear.
  • Diagnose problems with engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Use diagnostic tools to assess performance and identify issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, fluids checks.
  • Replace worn parts to keep vehicles safe and reliable.
  • Maintain service schedules and ensure timely maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
  • Repair or replace engines, transmissions, A/C, exhausts, and hydraulics.
  • Keep detailed records of repairs and parts for each vehicle.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Seeking an experienced diesel mechanic with strong diagnostics, hydraulics, and field repair capabilities on heavy equipment and fleet vehicles, including hydrovac trucks.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record is a must
  • Ability to pass a background and a drug test
  • 5+ years of automotive and diesel repair, truck experience or combination of education & experience, with verifiable certifications
  • CDL a plus, but not required
  • Experience in heavy equipment/hydraulics preferred
  • Hydrovac truck experience a plus
  • Must have appropriate mechanic's tool set
  • Must be capable of working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated to work in a safe environment and keep workspace clean and tidy
  • Able to work evenings and Saturdays as needed
Responsibilities
  • Inspecting fleet vehicles and heavy equipment for mechanical issues, safety concerns, or wear and tear
  • Diagnosing problems with engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical systems
  • Using diagnostic tools and equipment to assess vehicle and equipment performance and identify issues
  • Performing regular maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks
  • Replacing worn or damaged parts to keep vehicles and equipment in safe working order
  • Monitoring maintenance schedules and ensuring vehicles/equipment are serviced on time to avoid breakdowns
  • Repairing or replacing broken or malfunctioning components, including engines, transmissions, air conditioning, exhaust systems, and hydraulic systems
  • Fabricating or welding parts when necessary
  • Addressing electrical and mechanical issues, including starter motors, alternators, and power systems
  • Keeping detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and parts replaced for each vehicle/unit in the fleet
  • Tracking mileage, service intervals, and warranty details to ensure optimal maintenance schedules
  • Reporting on the status of the fleet and any potential issues that may arise
  • Quickly identifying and diagnosing issues that cause breakdowns in the field or shop
  • Conducting tests on engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and other key components to find and resolve problems efficiently
  • Ensuring that all repairs and preventative maintenance meet safety and regulatory standards
  • Performing safety checks to ensure vehicles/equipment meet state or federal inspection requirements
  • Ensuring that all work is compliant with local environmental standards (e.g., emissions)
  • Collaborating with the fleet manager and other team members to ensure vehicles and equipment are ready for use when needed
  • Advising management on vehicle/equipment condition, needed repairs, and the overall state of the fleet
  • Interacting with drivers or other staff to understand issues they've experienced with vehicles or equipment
  • Providing responsive service and communication when addressing vehicle- or equipment-related concerns
  • Taking vehicles on test drives after repairs to ensure proper function
  • Ensuring proper calibration of components like alignment, brakes, and electrical systems
  • Ensuring that tools, company machinery, and equipment are in proper working condition
  • Keeping the repair area clean, organized, and safe to work in

Pay: starting from $40 per hour DOE + certifications
