Job description

Diesel Mechanic

Asbell companies is currently seeking a DIESEL MECHANIC to work day shift in our Carl Junction, MO location. Successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the equipment in the fleet while ensuring all safety requirements are met. This includes repair and preventative maintenance on equipment as necessary to ensure proper operating condition.

Our fleet includes diesel trucks of all sizes, plus tons of yellow iron. You'll have the chance to work on anything and everything.

Job Duties:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual is to adhere to all local, state, OSHA, MSHA and environmental regulations as outlined in the Employee Safe Work Guidelines, Safety Rules sign-off sheet and any/all information provided by Asbell Companies.

1. Performs repairs and routine preventive maintenance
2. Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment
3. Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs
4. Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage and accounting for repair times
5. Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards
6. Maintains a safe, clean, productive and efficient work area

Requirements:

1. High school diploma
2. Minimum 2 years of experience in diesel repair and maintenance
3. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods and practices of engine repair, mechanical and electrical systems and maintenance
4. Working knowledge of safe equipment practices
5. Education/certifications are a plus
6. Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner
7. Competency using various computer systems to record and document repairs and diagnose problems
8. Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
9. Possess the recommended minimum hand tools for a Diesel Mechanic
10. Valid driver's license- CDL preferred, but not required
11. Basic computer & mathematical skills
12. Must be able to lift 70 pounds safely
