We are immediately hiring a permanent full-time Senior Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Baltimore, Maryland.

  • Hourly Pay: $31.00 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter, four times per year
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off
  • Hours: Second shift, 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
  • Required: basic tools
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Valid CDL Class A preferred
  • All other certifications as required by location
Additional Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with heavy and medium-duty mechanical repairs and diagnostics
  • Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
Driving Requirements
  • Must obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
  • Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, background check, and motor vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from past 3 years)

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs, including preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and component replacements
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine issues
  • Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation
  • Follow all safety and compliance guidelines
  • Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Access and use maintenance documents
  • Support operations as needed, including service island duties
  • Complete OEM diagnostic courses as required
