Job summary

Union Pacific is seeking an experienced diesel locomotive mechanic to service and repair locomotives, ensuring safety and compliance with FRA and company standards. You will diagnose, repair, and rebuild diesel engines and related systems while maintaining productive relationships with coworkers and customers.

The position requires 4+ years of mechanical experience or a journeyman card, a valid driver's license, and readiness to relocate to designated locations; excellent communication skills

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 4 years of education or work experience as a mechanic or journeyman card.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and use precision tools for maintenance and repair of locomotives.
• Communicate technical information and job procedures to team members.
• Diagnose malfunctions in diesel engines, air brake and fuel systems.
• Repair, replace or rebuild locomotive components as needed.
• Inspections to ensure compliance with company, federal, and industry standards.
