Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) in Steubenville, OH seeks a Fleet Technician to maintain and repair heavy equipment and vehicles. Tasks include servicing booms, hydraulics, A/C, brakes, steering, and transmissions; valid CDL and diesel/ASE credentials are required or pursued.

Expect travel within service area and rigorous safety standards. Responsibilities include diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and assisting in training others while keeping work areas organized and compliant with company

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; automotive trade schooling with diesel focus is a plus.
• Experience: 2+ years in automotive mechanical diagnosis with hydraulic and diesel repair.
• Licenses: Valid state driver's license; Class A CDL within 12 months of entry.
• Certifications: Fluid Power Society and two ASE certifications within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair boom/pedestal assemblies and related components; inspect and test systems.
• Repair hydraulic systems: pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, accumulators, and swivel blocks.
• Maintain heating/ventilation, A/C systems; diagnose, pressure-test, replace compressors and components.
• Troubleshoot and repair winch, steering, air brake, and braking systems.
• Inspect and service differentials, transmissions, fuel and exhaust systems.
