Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Fleet Technician B to maintain and repair the company’s heavy and specialized equipment. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and braking systems and perform tune-ups, inspections, and load testing as part of a safety-critical fleet team.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years of automotive mechanical diagnosis experience, and ASE or Fluid Power Certification within 24 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis with hydraulic and diesel repair experience.
• Graduation from automotive trade school with diesel engine experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair boom/pedestal assemblies and related components, including load testing.
• Service and repair hydraulic systems and pumps, valves, cylinders, and swivel block.
• Service and repair heating/ventilation and A/C systems, including leak checks and compressor replacement.
• Troubleshoot and repair winch, steering, air brake, and braking systems.
• Inspect differentials, transmissions, and fuel/exhaust systems; provide diagnostics assistance.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area; keep records and attend training.
