Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Diesel Equipment Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment, trucks, cranes, trailers, and other motorized machinery. The role requires travel to various locations and job sites, with overtime and per diem opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on maintenance experience with heavy equipment, track equipment, trailers, cranes, or similar machinery.
• 5+ years of experience in at least two technical areas, such as hydraulics, electronics, small engines, air conditioning, or other mechanical systems.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Trade school, dealership, factory service training, or equivalent technical education in diesel mechanical repair/maintenance.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Professional certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance and repair are preferred.
• Additional certifications may be required based on assigned responsibilities.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain accurate documentation.
• Good computer, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to respond with urgency when equipment repairs require immediate attention.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes, and other motorized equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections to keep equipment operational.
• Review daily assignments with the Shop Foreman and prioritize repair and maintenance work.
• Complete work orders accurately and within expected timeframes.
• Document mileage, operating hours, repair dates, and work performed.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and elevate emergency or high-priority repairs when necessary.
• Minimize equipment downtime by efficiently coordinating tools, parts, and repairs.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Follow all safety policies and operating procedures.
• Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to complete repairs and maintenance projects.
• Travel to other locations for maintenance, repairs, training, seminars, meetings, or emergency support.
