Job summary

Yahara Materials Inc. is seeking a full-time Diesel Engine Technician to repair and rebuild diesel engines used in a variety of heavy equipment. Candidates should possess a Diesel & Heavy Equipment technical background with over four years of experience in diesel repair.

The role involves using diagnostic software to detect issues and performing preventative maintenance. The position requires the ability to lift heavy items and perform some fieldwork. A competitive pay and benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years’ experience rebuilding and troubleshooting diesel engines.
  • Journeyman status or dealer training is a plus.
  • Knowledge of tools and tool usage, including basic welding skills.
  • Ability to lift more than 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and perform complete engine rebuilds.
  • Use diagnostic tools to detect faults and diagnose components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and general machine upkeep.

Job description

Yahara Materials is currently hiring for a full-time Diesel Engine Technician. We are family owned and operated, specializing in surface mining and processing of limestone rock and sand and gravel. Yahara continuously updates its equipment with the latest technologies in processing plants and mobile equipment, keeping up with industry demands.

Qualifications
  • Technical school graduate from a Diesel & Heavy Equipment program
  • 4+ years’ experience rebuilding and troubleshooting diesel engines
  • Journeyman status or dealer training is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel engines in a variety of equipment including loaders, dozers, excavators, dump trucks, crushing plants, generators and water pumps (primarily Caterpillar and Cummins)
  • Knowledge of tools and tool usage, including basic welding skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy, organization, and cleanliness
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written, positive and professional demeanor, basic computer skills, good work habits, self-motivation and a desire to perform at one’s highest level
  • Must provide your own tools
  • Ability to lift more than 50 lbs
  • Ability to pass a D.O.T. drug test
  • Gather and interpret oil samples
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and when necessary perform a complete engine rebuild
  • Use diagnostic laptop computer software such as CAT ET and Cummins Insite to detect faults and diagnose failed components
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and part manuals including electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Perform preventative maintenance and general machine upkeep
  • Higher percentage of work would be done in shop environment, some field work is required
