Job summary

Norton Energy Drilling in Texas is seeking an experienced diesel engine mechanic to service and repair engines powering its drilling rigs. You will diagnose problems, perform on-site repairs, and coordinate with rig personnel to minimize downtime.

The role requires working outdoors in all weather, reading hydraulic and electrical schematics, and maintaining spare parts inventories. A valid driver's license and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematic diagrams.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Norton Energy Drilling is currently looking to hire an experienced diesel engine mechanic to service the company's numerous engines powering its fleet of drilling rigs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose engine problems and make onsite repairs
• Adhere to all Company safety policies and procedures
• Overhaul engines and engine components in shop facility and maintain appropriate spare part inventory
• Respond to downtime in a timely manner
• Train and work with rig personnel on proper engine operation and routine maintenance
• Inspect working rigs for proper engine operation and complete any necessary repairs
• Provide recommendations for improved engine performance and longevity

Knowledge and Skills

• Excellent working knowledge of the most popular diesel engine makes with the ability to diagnose problems and make field repairs.
• Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods of time
• Good communication skills both written and verbal
• Read and interpret schematic diagrams both hydraulic and electrical
• Good working knowledge of hydraulic systems
• Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable drivingrecord

Experience

• Previous oilfield experience preferred
• Three years working with Caterpillar 3500 series engines

Work Schedule

• Living in Lubbock area: Monday through Friday with every other weekend on call
• Living outside Lubbock area: 14/14
• Work vehicle and cell phone provided
