Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. is seeking a Diesel Diagnostic Mechanic for our Bayard, NM operation. You will diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment including haul trucks, dozers, loaders, and graders, and perform transmissions and engine work. You will also train others and possibly serve as a fill-in supervisor.

The role requires 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience, strong English communication, blueprint literacy, and solid troubleshooting skills in a high-demand mining environment.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts or equivalent
• Clear ability to understand and apply English safety instructions
• Ability to read and use blueprints

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain and repair heavy equipment (haul trucks, water trucks, dozers, loaders, graders)
• Remove/repair/install transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials and pumps
• Perform mechanical lubrication and preventive maintenance of hydraulic, powertrain and engine systems
• Prioritize repairs and make timely decisions
• Maintain work orders and perform inspections
• Operate mobile equipment (cranes, forklifts, boom trucks)
• Perform welding (Carbon arc, Plasma, Mig, Tig, Stick)
• Possibly fill-in supervisor duties as needed
• Train and mentor other employees
