Qualifications

• This position requires two years as a Tradesman Helper in automotive work or completion of a diesel technology curriculum.
• Graduation from a post-high school diesel technology program or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Active certifications and training as required by state and department regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairing and overhauling cars, trucks and heavy equipment, including parts replacement and basic body repairs.
• Participate in preventative maintenance and routine servicing to reduce wear and prevent failures.
• Learn diagnostics, tune-ups, tire changes and system repairs on engines and vehicle components.
• Support state safety inspections, emissions testing and related records.
• Identify equipment problems and assist with repair methods, tools and parts.
