Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic for the Chester County DOT. You will maintain and repair diesel and gasoline vehicles and equipment, perform inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance to keep road maintenance and public safety vehicles running reliably.

The role requires completion of the Dispatcher/Mechanic Trainee program or equivalent, a PA CDL, and a Tank Vehicle Endorsement during probation.

Qualifications

Two years of journey level mechanic experience in diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, including one year in diesel vehicles/equipment.
Completion of the Commonwealth’s Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program or equivalent.
Equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

Repair and overhaul vehicles and machinery including engines, brakes, electrical parts, and mechanical systems.
Perform diagnostics, tune-ups, and part replacements as preventative maintenance.
Complete state safety and emissions inspections and ensure standards are met.
Identify issues using diagnostic tools and determine repair methods.
Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety procedures.
