Job summary

First Student, Inc. is hiring a Diesel Technician for our shop serving Ventura County. The role features a Monday-Friday day shift, with an hourly rate of $32–$35 and potential bonus for ASE qualifications. Company-paid training for ASE, CDL Class B, and ongoing education are provided to support career growth.

You will help maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability, and you’ll join a team dedicated to safety, community and collaboration across our 540 locations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience or equivalent schooling.
• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• DOT drug testing required for safety-sensitive role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and repair brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections; complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
