Job summary

Hertz is seeking an experienced Diesel Bus Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team. In this role you will perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics on diesel buses, focusing on engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and air conditioning.

Work is fast-paced and safety‑driven, with an emphasis on keeping vehicles ready for operation. Compensation includes $30.00 per hour plus monthly incentives and a $5,000 bonus paid over the first year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 25 years old.
• 3–5 years of bus repair or diesel fleet maintenance experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements required.
• Must have your own tools.
• ASE certification preferred.
• Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and flexible shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on buses and related fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines and transmissions.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and complete necessary repairs.
• Perform oil changes and general maintenance services.
• Service air brake and suspension systems.
• Diagnose and repair air conditioning systems.
• Maintain accurate service records and follow all safety procedures.
• Support fleet readiness by ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for operation.
