Job summary

US Foods is seeking a skilled Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician to join our maintenance team in Hammond, LA. You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on diesel fleet equipment including tractors, trailers, and lift gates while following DOT standards.

The role requires ≥3 years of hands-on experience and TK/Carrier certifications, willingness to travel for training, and ability to use fleet maintenance software.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of verifiable hands-on experience as a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician.
  • TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to reefer equipment repairs.
  • Able to read and understand technical service manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates).
  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Receive road calls, coordinate with vendors and plan action with partners.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance software to document repairs and parts used.

BASIC PURPOSE: To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Receive road calls, assign third party vendor, and work with business partners on plan of action.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance software system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
  • Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certificates.
  • Mentor other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have 3 yearsof verifiable hands-on experience as a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician. TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications.
  • Must be willing to travel and attend training provided by US Foods.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to reefer equipment repairs.
  • Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience in administering appropriate PM program.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).
  • Ability to read and understand technical and online service manuals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience using fleet maintenance software PREFERRED
  • Welding ability PREFERRED

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Onsite: The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.
  • Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $36 and $40. This role may also receive overtime compensation where applicable.
