Job summary

US Foods is hiring a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration Technician to keep our fleet safe and reliable. You will diagnose and repair diesel equipment, perform DOT-compliant maintenance, and document work using fleet software.

A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience and TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications are required; welding is a plus. The position offers a Sunday-Thursday schedule (4:00 PM–12:30 AM), competitive hourly pay starting at $36, and great benefits from day one, including health

Qualifications

  • 3 years of hands-on experience as a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician
  • TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications
  • Willing to travel and attend training provided by US Foods
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to reefer equipment repairs
  • Able to read and write legibly; basic math skills
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools
  • Experience using fleet maintenance software preferred
  • Welding ability preferred

BASIC PURPOSE: To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Receive road calls, assign third party vendor, and work with business partners on plan of action.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance software system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
  • Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certificates.
  • Mentor other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have 3 yearsof verifiable hands-on experience as a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician. TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications.
  • Must be willing to travel and attend training provided by US Foods.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to reefer equipment repairs.
  • Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience in administering appropriate PM program.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).
  • Ability to read and understand technical and online service manuals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience using fleet maintenance software PREFERRED
  • Welding ability PREFERRED

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Onsite: The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.
  • Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $36 and $40. This role may also receive overtime compensation where applicable.
