Job summary

US Foods, Inc. is hiring a Fleet Maintenance Technician to provide safe, reliable service for our fleet. You will diagnose and repair diesel equipment, perform DOT-regulation maintenance, and coordinate with vendors to ensure rapid action on road calls.

Comfortable with documenting work in fleet software and mentoring teammates. We value hands-on expertise, tool availability, and willingness to travel for training.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician.
  • TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications.
  • Willing to travel and attend training provided by US Foods.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to reefer equipment repairs.
  • Experience administering PM programs.
  • Must furnish own hand tools.
  • Able to read/write legibly; basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience using fleet maintenance software preferred.
  • Welding ability preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete required repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates).
  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Receive road calls, coordinate third-party vendors, and plan action with business partners.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment according to safety rules/regulations.
  • Document repairs and parts used in fleet software tablet.
  • Backup to other maintenance staff.
  • Mentor other maintenance personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Basic Purpose

To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Receive road calls, assign third party vendor, and work with business partners on plan of action.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance software system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
  • Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certificates.
  • Mentor other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
  • Must have 3 yearsof verifiable hands‑on experience as a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician. TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications.
  • Must be willing to travel and attend training provided by US Foods.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to reefer equipment repairs.
  • Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Prior experience in administering appropriate PM program.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job‑related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).
  • Ability to read and understand technical and online service manuals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience using fleet maintenance software PREFERRED
  • Welding ability PREFERRED
Work Environment
  • Onsite : The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.
  • Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $36 and $40. This role may also receive overtime compensation where applicable.
