High school diploma accepted; 1 year transfer press experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience with transfer presses and die setting.
  • Ability to start press from shutdown conditions.
  • Knowledge of die setting, press parameters.
  • Quality inspections including First Off/Last Off.

Responsibilities

  • Operate transfer press and perform changeovers.
  • Transport dies and set up dies per production schedule.
  • Perform rail setups and ensure proper hookup.
  • Install, position, align dies on bolster.
  • Train part packers.
  • Maximize each die in the press.
  • Document issues with die/press and communicate to teams.
  • Work with Press Improvement Team, Tool & Die and Maintenance.
  • Make gripper adjustments, end stop adjustments, and adjust coil feed parameters.
  • Perform small maintenance repairs.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and housekeeping.
  • Perform other essential functions as assigned.

Description
2nd Shift
POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Press Area Manager, is responsible for complete operation of a transfer press, including changeovers and the identification of improvements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Maintains the responsibilities and essential functions of a Die Set Technician.

Will have complete knowledge of die setting, press parameters, and the ability to start the press from a complete shutdown condition.

Initiates press production runs to a continuous mode.

Performs quality inspection checks, First Off/Last Off inspections and all "Inspection Strategy" procedures.

Transports dies, performs die sets up and changes dies in transfer press according to the production schedule.

Performs all rail setups, and make sure they are hooked up correctly and working properly.

Installs, positions, and aligns dies on the bolster.

Trains part packers on how to perform their job properly.

Must be able to maximize each job/die when it is in the press.

Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through documented Team discussions. Improvement events will be used to optimize utilization of the transfer presses.

Must document all issues with a die and/or press in detail, and communicate those issues to the Press Improvement Teams.

Works intimately with the Press Improvement Team, Tool & Die and Maintenance to optimize press utilization, changeover time, press repairs and die repairs.

Required to make gripper adjustments, end stop adjustments and adjust coil feed parameters to minimize press downtime.

Performs small maintenance repairs, as needed.

Strictly adheres to all safety regulations, according to company policy.

Establish and maintain excellent housekeeping habits.

Performs other essential functions as assigned.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

Primary measure of performance will be achieving Corporate Goals for individual Press Throughput, and an established Plant Goal for OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)..

Secondary measure of performance will be maintaining a positive attitude and being a Team oriented employee.
