Job summary

MSR Technology Group in Illinois seeks a Die Repair Technician to perform daily repair and maintenance of progressive dies, read blueprints and CAD drawings, and modify tooling to meet customer changes. You will set up and operate drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines; perform rebuilds, sharpening, and changeovers; and troubleshoot die problems in a fast-paced shop.

Job description

Summary: Responsible for the daily repair and maintenance of the dies.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Build, repair and maintain progressive dies, per design requirements.
• Modify existing tooling per customer changes and requirements.
• Knowledge and ability to perform rebuilds, sharpen and repair progressive dies.
• Ability to troubleshoot press and die problems.
• Perform changeovers on multiple part tooling.
• Follows all company rules and policies.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, and CAD drawings.
• Setup and operate machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines.
• Fitting and assembling tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities.
• Conducting test runs with completed tools and dies.

• Knowledge and operation of all tool room equipment safely and efficiently.
• Experience with punch press equipment and metal forming processes.

• Knowledge using measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometer.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. TMA certificate or equivalent.

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Basic computer skills.
