Description

SUMMARY

The Die Machinist will perform duties including die sinking (trimmer and impression), die repair, die control, horizontal mill operations, and CNC operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Calculate dimensions, plan machining, layout, and assembly operations.
  • Measure and lay out metal stock for machining.
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, saws, and grinders.
  • Repair dies to specifications and verify conformance of machine parts.
  • Verify dimensions, clearances, and alignment of die components.
  • Ensure quality and verify conformance of finished work.
  • Dismantle dies and repair or replace parts as needed.
  • Perform minor maintenance, housekeeping, and material handling duties.
  • Maintain documentation and update systems for each task.
  • Manage die shop materials and tools effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma, Associate’s Degree, or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or at least one year of related experience in a machine or die shop, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and effectively communicating with others.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to solve practical problems using basic shop math, including trigonometry and geometry, and interpret instructions in various formats.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to interpret instructions and solve practical problems with limited standardization.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Journeyman card is desirable; a valid driver’s license is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to stand, use hands, reach, talk, walk, climb, balance, and occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and outdoor weather. Noise levels are typically loud. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.
