Job summary

Zumbiel in Hebron Estates, KY, seeks a Pre-Make Ready Technician to manage die cutting prep across the facility. You will prepare tooling, set up and lock up dies, and maintain readiness of materials for upcoming jobs under the Die Cutting Department Supervisor and Manager.

Ideal candidates have 3-5 years in die cutting, a High School diploma or GED, and strong mechanical aptitude. You will operate a Bobst Die Cutter 142CER/142ER/145 MasterCut PER, use micrometers, tape measures, forklift, and

Job Title: Pre-Make Ready Technician

Reports To: Cutting Supervisor

Position Overview:

The Pre-Make Ready technician is responsible for managing all die cutting, make-ready materials used across the facility, ensuring they are properly prepared, maintained, and accessible for upcoming jobs. This position performs all tasks as directed by the Die Cutting Department Supervisor and Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain a Die Cutter.
• Operate, set and maintain a Bobst Master Plot table.
• Operate and set up jobs on pre-make ready table.
• Prepare tooling timely for up-coming die cutting jobs.
• Performs lock up of dies on die cutter.
• Fabricate and/or assemble upper and lower waste removal boards.
• Fabricate and/or assemble upper and lower blanker.
• Manage job tickets and data entry.
• Maintain documentation for individual jobs.
• Manage inventory in Die Shop.
• Effectively clean and install phenolic counter plates.
• Install die rubber on cutting dies.
• Collaborate with die cutter operators on job management.

Job Specifications:

• Ability to operate a Bobst Die Cutter 142CER, 142ER and 145 MasterCut PER.
• Ability to lift 50-80lbs (blankers and lower boards)
• Ability to use and read a micrometer.
• Ability to use hand truck, forklift, and genie.
• Ability to use bandsaw and chopsaw.
• Ability to use hand powered tools (drills, saws, router, etc.)
• Ability to use a tape measure (standard & metric).
• Ability to use basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to use basic computer skills.

Education / Experience:

High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred but not required. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in Die Cutting is highly desirable.

Communication Skills / Requirements:

Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with management, peers and other employees. Have active listening skills, attention to detail and follow-through. Must demonstrate tact, professionalism, teamwork, flexibility, an organized approach to work and a positive attitude.

Safety:

All duties to be performed in compliance with company guidelines, safety policy, and 6s standards.

PPE:

PPE: MUST WEAR Hearing Protection and safety glasses in all areas. Must only use a safety knife with cut proof gloves.
