Job summary

Graphic Packaging International, LLC seeks a Die Cutting Operator in Winston-Salem, NC to safely and efficiently cut printed products. This role requires operating Bobst sheet-fed cutters, making readies, and verifying jobs before feed.

You will perform maintenance, document quality checks, and assist with packing and minor repairs. Candidates should have manufacturing experience, a forklift license, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with sheet-fed cutting and embossing preferred.
  • Forklift operator license preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Excellent attendance and ability to work independently required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate die cutting equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Make readies and run jobs on Sheet Fed cutters such as Bobst models.
  • Verify job setup before feeding the press and perform press maintenance.
  • Keep daily quality checklists and log material usage in PEAK.
  • Disassemble for minor repairs and replace worn parts as needed.
  • Perform hand packing and assist with other duties as assigned.

Die Cutting Operator

Winston Salem, NC

JOB SUMMARY

Safely and efficiently facilitates the cutting process of printed product.

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Experienced in duties of qualified Sheet Fed Cutting Operator, including make readies and operation.
  • Experienced on cutting machinery similar or same as Sheet fed cutting equipment such as: Bobst 162 CER, Bobst 1600 ER, Bobst 103, and Bobst 126-BMA.
  • Verify proper job before feeding the press.
  • Proper press maintenance and lubrication.
  • Provide daily quality checklist when inspecting pallets after cutting.
  • Perform make ready and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Able to run job with embossing inline.
  • Keeps daily time and materials usage reports and records information in PEAK.
  • Disassembles machines to perform minor repairs or replace broken or worn parts, using hand tools.
  • May perform hand packing as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience operating hand jacks, electric pallet jacks and forklifts preferred.

SKILLS
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • MECHANICAL
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS - Company issued Fork Truck Operator’s License
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

Schedules can be up to 12-hour shifts Mondays – Sundays (particularly if mode/continuous run schedule). However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends for coverage and be punctual while doing so.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Standing, depending on changing job assignment, continuously (100% of the time) for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements
  • Ability to bend, squat, crawl, reach above shoulder level and at waist or lower, twist, stretch, push, and pull (up to 60 lbs. of force), carry, kneel, grasp, stop, crawl and finger occasionally (1-33% of the time)
  • Climbing and walking frequently (34-66% of the time)
  • Requires use of both feet on a continuous basis
  • Requires use of both hands for simple grasping, firm grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive actions on a continuous basis
  • Ability to read, write, hear, see, speak, and have agility on a continuous basis.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature
  • PPE required: Steel-toed/safety footwear, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Cut resistant Safety Gloves, Hair Net, Beard Net
