Pace Industries, LLC in New Hampshire is seeking a Tooling Technician to maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and optimize dies, trim dies, fixtures, and related tooling used in high pressure aluminum die casting operations.

You will support production by ensuring tooling performs safely and efficiently, with minimal downtime, while maintaining quality standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on tooling maintenance experience and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
Experience in high pressure aluminum die casting tooling maintenance preferred.
Knowledge of die cast tooling, trim tooling, and related manufacturing processes.
Ability to read blueprints, tooling drawings, and precision measuring instruments.
Experience with welding, CNC/manual machining, grinding, polishing, and fitting techniques preferred.
Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and cooling systems associated with die cast tooling.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Basic computer and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance and repair on die cast dies, trim dies, fixtures, and auxiliary tooling.
Troubleshoot tooling-related production issues including flash, porosity, soldering, mismatch, and dimensional concerns.
Disassemble, inspect, clean, and reassemble dies and tooling components.
Repair tooling using welding, polishing, grinding, machining, spotting, and fitting techniques.
Coordinate die changes and support die setup activities with production and maintenance teams.
Monitor tooling performance and recommend improvements to increase tool life and process efficiency.
Maintain accurate tooling maintenance records and documentation.
Assist with new tool tryouts, engineering changes, and process improvement initiatives.
Verify cooling lines, vents, slides, ejector systems, and hydraulic components are functioning properly.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to tooling failures or scrap.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Work closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to support production goals.
