Coldspring is seeking a Diamond Saw Operator I in Kentucky to set up and run saws, ensuring precise cuts per production tickets and safety standards. The role requires handling overhead crane operations, reading tickets, and optimizing material usage while maintaining production flow.

Start-to-finish responsibilities include loading materials, verifying specs, and recording work in the JDE system, with overtime as needed and opportunities for cross-training.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload saws with an overhead crane.
• Review production tickets to determine necessary cuts.
• Ensure work meets ticket specs before and after cutting.
• Level and square stone on saw bed.
• Index blade size based on stone dimensions.
• Brace and wedge stone to prevent movement during cutting.
• Apply patterns to maximize stone material usage.
• Load pre-programmed profiles and input manual cuts as needed.
• Operate saw according to layout and order specs for straight and angled cuts.
• Reattach slab labels after cutting and scan tickets in the system.

Hours: Monday – Thursday: 5am – 3:30pm & Friday: 5am – 10am; overtime as needed

JOB SUMMARY:

The Diamond Saw Operator 1 is responsible for the set up and operation of the saws.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Load and unload saws with an overhead crane.
• Review production tickets to determine cuts that are necessary for the stone.
• Review work to ensure it meets production ticket specifications before and after cutting.
• Level and square stone on saw bed.
• Index the saw blade to the correct size and dimension based upon the stone being cut.
• Brace and wedge stone to prevent it from moving while it is being cut.
• Apply patterns and layout stone to best utilize raw stone material.
• Load pre-programmed profiles from the network and input manual cuts as needed.
• Operate saw according to layout and order specifications for both straight and angle cuts.
• Reattach slab labels or label each slab after cuts have been completed.
• Scan bar code on production tickets to record work performed in JDE system.

Requirements

• Must obtain forklift certification (training and certification provided by Coldspring for all employees who may be required to operate a forklift).
• General computer skills.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production.
• Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency.
• Mechanically inclined.
• General math skills.
• Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
• Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric.
• Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed.
