Job summary

Cold Spring Granite is seeking a Saw Operator I to set up and run saws in a full-time role. You will load/unload with an overhead crane, review tickets, ensure cuts meet specs, and label slabs after cutting. Cross-training and safety adherence are expected.

Responsibilities include pattern layout, blade indexing, and recording work in the JDE system. Forklift certification is required or trained on site as needed.

Qualifications

• Must obtain forklift certification (training provided).
• Able to read production tickets and dimensional drawings.
• Read a tape measure (imperial & metric).
• General math skills.
• Read work orders or production tickets.
• Willing to cross-train and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload saws with an overhead crane.
• Review production tickets to determine necessary cuts for the stone.
• Review work to ensure it meets production ticket specifications before and after cutting.
• Level and square stone on saw bed.
• Index the saw blade to the correct size and dimension based on the stone.
• Brace and wedge stone to prevent movement while cutting.
• Apply patterns and layout stone to maximize raw stone material use.
• Load pre-programmed profiles from the network and input manual cuts as needed.
• Operate saw according to layout and order specifications for straight and angle cuts.
• Reattach slab labels or label each slab after cuts are completed.
• Scan bar code on production tickets to record work in JDE system.

Status: This is a full-time; hourly position
Hours: Monday – Wednesday: 3:15pm – 3:45am & Thursday: 3:15pm – 7:45pm; overtime as needed

JOB SUMMARY: The Saw Operator 1 is responsible for the set up and operation of the saws.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Load and unload saws with an overhead crane.
• Review production tickets to determine cuts that are necessary for the stone.
• Review work to ensure it meets production ticket specifications before and after cutting.
• Level and square stone on saw bed.
• Index the saw blade to the correct size and dimension based upon the stone being cut.
• Brace and wedge stone to prevent it from moving while it is being cut.
• Apply patterns and layout stone to best utilize raw stone material.
• Load pre-programmed profiles from the network and input manual cuts as needed.

Requirements

• Must obtain forklift certification (training and certification provided by Coldspring for all employees who may be required to operate a forklift).
• General computer skills.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production.
• Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency.
• Mechanically inclined.
• General math skills.
• Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
• Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric.
• Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed.
