Job summary

Coldspring is seeking a Diamond Saw Operator 1 to set up and operate diamond saws, loading, cutting, and inspecting stone to meet production tickets.

You will work with an overhead crane, verify patterns, read tickets, and document work in the system; we offer full-time hours and a veteran-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Must obtain forklift certification (training and certification provided by Coldspring for all employees who may be required to operate a forklift).
• General computer skills.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing tasks to avoid production interruptions.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Excellent problem solving and time management skills.
• Mechanical incline.
• General math skills.
• Must read work orders or production tickets with drawings where applicable.
• Ability to read a tape measure (imperial and metric).
• Self-motivated team member, adheres to safety protocols and cross-trains as needed.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload saws with an overhead crane.
• Review production tickets to determine necessary cuts.
• Ensure work meets ticket specifications before and after cutting.
• Level and square stone on saw bed.
• Index the saw blade to correct size and dimension.
• Brace and wedge stone to prevent movement during cutting.
• Apply patterns and layout stone to maximize raw material use.
• Load pre-programmed profiles and input manual cuts as needed.
• Operate saw according to layout and order specs for straight and angle cuts.
• Reattach slab labels or label slabs after cuts.
• Scan production tickets to record work performed in JDE system.

JOB SUMMARY

The Diamond Saw Operator 1 is responsible for the set up and operation of the saws.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Load and unload saws with an overhead crane.
• Review production tickets to determine cuts that are necessary for the stone.
• Review work to ensure it meets production ticket specifications before and after cutting.
• Level and square stone on saw bed.
• Index the saw blade to the correct size and dimension based upon the stone being cut.
• Brace and wedge stone to prevent it from moving while it is being cut.
• Apply patterns and layout stone to best utilize raw stone material.
• Load pre-programmed profiles from the network and input manual cuts as needed.
• Operate saw according to layout and order specifications for both straight and angle cuts.
• Reattach slab labels or label each slab after cuts have been completed.
• Scan bar code on production tickets to record work performed in JDE system.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.

• Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
• Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric.
• Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed.
