Job summary

The Rapaport Group is seeking a Diamond Processing Associate in New York, NY. This full-time, in-house role supports intake, evaluation, and preparation of inventory for monthly auctions.

The candidate should be proactive, highly organized, and comfortable with data and internal systems. The ideal candidate has Graduate Gemologist credentials or related designations, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• GG preferred; GG or related designations considered.
• Proficiency in grading loose diamonds (color/clarity) preferred.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong computer skills; comfortable with databases, spreadsheets, and internal systems.
• Proactive, self-motivated, able to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment handling valuable inventory.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process incoming diamond inventory for upcoming auctions.
• Maintain accurate inventory tracking using internal databases and systems.
• Assist in catalog creation with precise data entry of submission details.
• Coordinate with internal teams on auction logistics and timelines.
• Conduct preliminary gemological assessments including color/clarity grading and tests.
• Recommend stones for third-party certification when appropriate.
• Coordinate shipments to/from clients before and after auctions.
• Perform quality control checks on records and data accuracy.
• Identify discrepancies or inefficiencies and help resolve them.
• Handle inventory with discretion and care.
• Support continuous improvement of internal processes and tracking systems.
• Deliver professional service to clients and trading partners.
