Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in the United States seeks a Patient Care Technician to support safe dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. You will assist in the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines and help maintain a safe, clean environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring patient wellbeing, taking vital signs, cannulating vascular access, administering heparin as delegated, documenting treatments, and participating in CQI activities to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid PCT national certification or state certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing patient-specific education on dialysis adequacy measures and treatments.
• Monitor vital signs and weight; evaluate vascular access patency and cannulation.
• Initiate and monitor dialysis treatment per prescribed orders; manage UF goals and machine settings.
• Document treatment data accurately; communicate changes in patient condition to RN or supervisor.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness, and infection control; prepare labs and specimens as needed.
• Participate in CQI activities and training to support quality standards.
