Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in the United States seeks a Patient Care Technician to support the dialysis team in providing safe and effective therapy. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, set up and operate hemodialysis machines, and maintain a safe, clean environment while contributing to CQI activities.

The role requires handling patient education, monitoring vitals, and documenting treatment parameters accurately.

Qualifications

• Experience in dialysis or healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to monitor and document vital signs and treatment parameters.
• Strong teamwork and ability to follow physician orders.

Responsibilities

• Welcome assigned patients and inquire about wellbeing since their last treatment.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency and perform cannulation; administer heparin as delegated or allowed by state law.
• Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight; perform vascular access evaluation pre-treatment.
• Initiate dialysis according to orders, including blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD).
• Monitor patient response to dialysis therapy and intervene as prescribed.
• Record vital signs and treatment parameters on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet with initial identification.
• Report significant changes in patient condition to the registered nurse or supervisor.
• Observe machine safety checks; document unusual findings and actions taken.
