Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in Massachusetts seeks a dialysis health care team member to support safe dialysis therapy under nurse supervision. You will help set up and operate hemodialysis machines and contribute to maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

The role involves monitoring patient status, documenting treatments, and assisting with patient education and care coordination to support quality care and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Education: Assist other health care members in providing patient specific detailed education regarding adequacy measures where appropriate - Online Clearance Monitoring (OLC), Adequacy Monitoring Program (AMP), Urea Kinetic Modeling (UKM).
• Treatment: Welcome assigned patients and inquire as to their wellbeing since their last treatment.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform vascular access cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated or as allowed by state law.
• Obtain pre and post treatment vital signs and weight; perform vascular access evaluation pre-treatment.
• Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders including QB and QD.
• Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy and document.
• Discontinue dialysis treatment and evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access.
• Record Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet and progress notes.
• Ensure safety alarms are enabled; record and report any changes to RN or supervisor.
• Prepare, organize and utilize supplies to prevent wastage.
• Monitors patients performing self-care under RN supervision.
